Aside from the killer's identity...

...the one thing that struck me (regrettably) about the film was how such an all-star, ensemble cast could (and did) muff and maim their scenes! Ugh!

Outside of maybe Mickey Rourke and/or Benicio each and every actor was either given lame dialogue (Helen Mirren, Sam Shepard) or just plain mailed it in (Jack Nicholson himself as well as the adorable Partricia Clarkson). I'm a very large Sean Penn fan but few directors have ever done less with more talent.

Just my opinion.

I was sure all along the preacher dude was the killer...even if he wasn't he was borderline predatory. In this day n' age (even in small town Nevada) one doesn't "talk with" little girls and their snowmen. 'Oliver' though is a very strong suspect, I suspect.

BTW, the actress who played Ginny was A-dorable. Well cast. Shame her IMDb bio indicates little to no work after this film.

"What's wrong with a little good, clean violence?"
