Need Help

I haven't seen the movie in a long time... but as I recall he is definitely shady.

John Le Carre's characters are often meant to be somewhat morally ambiguous. No spy is "good"; they are all forced to do despicable things in the name of Queen and country. Brosnan's character is ruthless and hard-edged, but so is Geoffrey Rush's, under pressure.

This was not a very good adaptation of the story, IMHO. I recommend reading the book if you want to understand what Le Carre was getting at.
