LeCarre's Homage was invigorated

I have read just about ever book he's written, but frankly this was not one my favorites and certainly not in the same league as his classic Smiley novels. From the outset it was clear to me that it had distinct similarities to Greene's " Our Man in Havana". The film adaptation of that novel coincidentally starred Alec Guinness, who would later play the definitive Smiley on British TV in the 70's. Although I found the book to be interesting, the plot seemed so far fetched that frankly I found it difficult to believe it had actually been written by LeCarre. With that said, I must say that film was quite interesting due to the performances of Rush and Brosnan who were terrific in bringing a somewhat flat novel to life.
