The nude scene seemed kind of pointless, though. It's obvious it was put there just to show off her tits. I'd be lying if I said I never wanted to see them, but you know what I mean.

So has anybody read the book? Maybe her being naked has something to do with the book. Like, in the book does she talk about being naked all the time at home or something? Or, did Ebert and Roeper say anything about the reasoning behind her being nude?

The most I can think of, is that maybe they were trying to show how close her and her mother were (she can be nude in front of her mom and both are totally okay with it), and at the same time, conveying how awkward their relationship can be at times (cause it was awkward seeing her nude for no apparent reason). But even that is extremely iffy and even if it is true, that's really stretching it.

It really does seem like the directors just wanted to throw in a nude scene. I wouldn't doubt some pervs out there did rent it just to see her nude. If I were an actress, I guess I'd be okay with doing nude scenes, but only if they're necessary and make sense.

You never know, maybe the scene was added as a kind of pretentious symbolism, as in "we're seeing her bare all in this film, her heart, soul...and body"

Well, I think they are wrong. I have read in interviews where Christina Ricci has stated that she was naked and felt very awkward doing that scene. She had to have Michelle Williams tell her via monitor on how to position herself on the bed.

I saw Ebert and Roeper and they said it was real. They said, it involved the much talked about nudity scene by Ricci. It's hard to fake something like that being that her face and tits were in the shot.

That's for sure! And another poster said pointless. Isn't that the truth! As promiscuous as this character lived her life while going through just difficult times. All the sexual escapades and they choose to show Ricci naked while sitting on her bed, talking to her mother??? Not only pointless, but kinda creepy, too.

I've never seen Now and Then..

I have seen Casper and Gold Diggers...they were all filmed around the same time as Now and Then was. She Definitely had boobs in those films...She wasn't flat. Now and Then may have been a movie where she had to tape breasts down because the producers thought they were too large for her age.

She has nice breasts but they're not like large or anything...

I kept fast forwarding trying to find it and um...its right at the begining...so yeah I'll never actuall watch it but I'm pleased to say that not only is she topless...she's naked. You see uh...you see a little tuft just-just a bit. Nice. Lovin the Ricci boobs.

No, Krgr_1428 in Now and Then her character tapes them down because she doesnt want to grow up. Her boobs are a sign of that. Plus, she's a bit of a tom boy in the film.
