Heinz F.

I was particularly touched by this man, he was so sad and it broke my heart to see his pain on not being able to tell anyone he cared for about his pain, when he was asked whom he wouldve like to tell he says "maybe my father" and breaks down , I wrote the filmmakers on their site about him and they confirmed hed passed on after the film, and said thanx for my response to the film..

Yes, ckree8, achingly sad. Life's so fecking cruel sometimes.

And good on you for expressing your compassion for him and letting the film-makers know that they and Heinz had touched someone.

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.

Hi there, I was very touched by Heinz F. too and was especially touched that you wrote to the film makers, we can hope that he is finally now at peace.
Cheers, Suzie.

ckree,

I first saw this film on HBO in 2004. Even after all this time, Heinz's story has stayed with me. There was just something about the man that radiated kindness. My heart broke for him and it is still the most memorable part of the documentary for me.

And you're right, he'd make a perfect Grandpa.

agreed, i just watched it , and his story totally broke my heart(as well as the others)... so gut wrenchingly sad... I wanted to give him a massive hug :(

reply

I agree. I wanted so badly to hug him.

reply

Me too!
Specially in the end, when he smiles because he's about to turn 93.
