I totally agree with the OP that Judge Brown is sexist. I don't think that he is sexist towards men though. I think he is really sexist towards women!
Remember Miss Holly? What happened to her? She was too old, had short hair and liked to wear pants instead of a skirt? So they got rid of her and hired Sonia who wears a skirt, has vuluptuous hair and wears a lot of makeup. He also calls her "Madame". Like WTF?
Also, are men allowed to sit in the audience? Seriously, the next time you watch the show, pay close attention to the audience. Every audience member located in the line of sight of the cameras is a WOMEN. You have to strain to see the men on the fringes whenever they do a wide shot before cutting away to commercial! Every person behind the defendant/prosecutor is always a beautiful woman too. You never see any men behind the complainants! Further more, when the cases are done and they have the interviews in the hallway, there is always 1 or 2 really beautiful women that are walking in and out of the court room while the interview is taking place. The same can be said at the end when they are "outside" on the steps. There is always a flock of beautiful women scurring to get in/out of the court house. They always wear the same thing too, a silk blouse with the top few buttons undone, a tweed skirt, high heels and the optional tweed half jacket. There hair is always done up and they usually wear glasses. Oh, they are never fat either! They are always in perfect shape and very muscular.
What does that say about the show? I also have a theory that the 4 women that sit behind each of the complainants are paid actresses. Again, they are always the most beautiful women in the audience and they ALWAYS have a facial expression for every little thing that goes on... They ALWAYS grimace or smile or frown or chuckle or laugh or snicker or WHATEVER emotion is required...
In my opinion, the entire show is garbage. Judge Joe seems to rule completely arbitrarily and awards judgements just to punish rather than on the rule of law. He just lets people ramble on and argue with each other which makes it look like he has no control over the court. The cases are also really repetitive. It's always either poor white people suing other poor white people or poor black people suing other poor black people.
The show can't hold a candle to the People's Court. Every case is always 100% real and therefore no case is ever the same (except for repeats). Milian is a totally competant and does a great job keeping control in her courtroom. The best part is that she is actually educational while being entertaining! She strikes a GREAT balance between realism and entertainment. There is also a wide variety of complainants. Old white people, young white people, old black people, young black people, old hispanic people and young hispanic people. They also have asians, Indians, and people of every stripe. When was the last time you saw asians or Indians on Judge Joe? NEVER!
I know alot of people like Judge Judy, but she can't compare to Milian either. Judy always seems to have these white hillbillies on that are suing over a ruined ATV or an inter family loan that some aunt made to her pregnant, teenage niece.
Well I said my piece!
