I'm going on the show

Hi all,

I filed a small claims lawsuit against someone and the show sent me a letter asking me to be on the show. I talked to the producer today and if all goes well I will be going December 12th. If it doesn't work out for next month, I'll be going in January.

My lawsuit is against a former friend who I hooked a cell phone up for under a friends and family plan through my employer. She agreed to pay the bill and never paid.

What do they tell you in advance about the circumstances of the show, like what is the incentive for the defendant to appear? Do they promise you or the defendant something, like paying for any awards given on the show?

That would be a good incentive for your former friend to appear, right? Otherwise, theres no reason to possibly be seen guilty on national tv.

Sorry to take so long to reply...

They said that she will get a $200 appearance fee and that if she loses the show will pay me. She doesn't have to pay and there's no judgement against her. Also she gets a free trip.

We ended up not going because she didn't want to. We mediated the case and she's now making payments to me every month until July.

Well, that was smart of her. I think she didn't want to look like a complete fool, which is the only type of person who would go on a show like that.

We went to mediation in my local town and she admitted that she knew she owed the money and was embarrassed she had not made any payments. I'm pretty sure that's why she declined going on the show. She probably realized that she would look like a moocher and JJB would rip her a new one.

Maybe she realized she was responsible and didn't want Joey to say anything to her.

Hope you didn't look like a stupid idiot on there.
