What's Up with Dibs Dad?

I've recently discovered this show and absolutely love it. The unique animation style and creepy narratives make one of the best. But what is up with Dibs Dad? In one of the episodes in Dibs house all of the objects look like his Dad and most scenes he will just be creepily standing in the background, not speaking. It actually reminds me of Roy from DHMIS. Is this ever explained in later episodes or just an fun thing for the audience?
