I don't understand why her clothes dont fit

Has anyone else noticed this?

Did the store not have her size? The artists can draw her shirt as big or as small as they want, but they deliberately choose to expose her midriff. Why is that? Wouldn't it be easier to simply continue the pen-stroke that creates her shirt, and let it go all the way to her pants-line, or skirt-line?

It's definitely intentional; I'm curious about their line of thinking on this.

I've always assumed it was because she has a chubby tummy. It's her tummy hanging over her pants, not a bare mid-drift. That's what I think, anyway. Her parents could still take her to the cartoon store for bigger clothes. They could make an episode about finding the store on the map.

Tommy Pickles' shirt didn't fit either.

I believe whatever doesn't kill you simply makes you... stranger.

It is a technique to age her to about 4 or 5 when clothes typically don't fit a growing child. If her clothes fit perfectly, she may a appear to be a bit older.
