teach your kids, don't dumb them down

My hate for Dora came to a head during the Purple Planet episode. Sometimes you want to enrich your children's education by having them watch something you feel is educational and cultural or whatever. Teaching them one thing and having the show teach them something else - in contradiction of what you taught them is wrong.

The Milky Way is not made of milk nor do we have to traverse a spanse to get to the Milky Way - we're already there. And teaching them far-fetched ideas and notions that one of their friends happens to have a rocket ship in the middle of the jungle.

My daughter will never watch Dora again.

And all the other shows with talking animals are real?

Im guessing thats just a cover to hate on something spanish

Do kids under 5 understand television?

Could it be possible that kids under 5 might talk to the television. Even kids under 5 before Dora existed.

Man I would love to see the OP's opinion on "The Magic Schoolbus" or "Ducktales" I could see it going like this.

"A magic bus that can travel anywhere is in no way realistic! my children will never see Mrs. Frizzle Again!"

"You cant swan dive into a giant pool of gold and survive, unrealistic! Furthermore, put some pants on!"

Come on man, these unrealistic shows were a vehicle used to teach kids BASIC things. There are A LOT of worse things they could be watching.

I dont really agree with you but hey, do you man, they are your kids after all
