Why was Courtney so popular?

Her personality was kind of annoying and it wasn't like she was a complete knockout. Was it because of her money?

reply

In the show they portray her as flawless and not to mention she's the richest girl in her school.

Rich smart and confident are usually all it takes to get social status in school.

She was definitely the richest girl in town, and a lot of girls were trying to be nice to her in the hopes of getting something in return - invites to her parties, expensive presents, social status etc.

And Courtney was pretty nice as well. Although shallow and a little stuck-up, she was a good-hearted girl who was kind to most people. Miranda and Mipsy were more outwardly bitchy, which is why people weren't jockeying to be their friends. People who are popular usually have a great confidence about who they are and a comfort in being themselves - whereas insecure people or arrogant people tend to turn others off with their attitudes.

The money it seemed like since sometimes her friends would ditch her for higher groups or so I read. It's been forever since I have watched the show.

As others said the money, but also she had a strong sense of fashion and was considered beautiful so in a way she was what every girl aspired to be and that made her popular.
