The scariest scene in the film

I was more frightened by a scene in the middle of the film than by the ending. SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

Remember that scene where the woman is drinking tea in what appears to be a greenroom. She hears some noise; looks around; goes back to drinking her tea. The noise continues. All of a sudden, evil Sadako's feet creep into the corner of the frame in that completely unnerving, jagged walk.

After I saw this film I was so terrified I had to sleep with the lights on for the first time since I was 12 (I'm 20 now).

When Sadako's teacher reminisces about visiting the Yammamura's. Shizuko's facial expression sticks with me. Scary as hell.

reply

I was confused by that. Was she supposed to be possessed? Is that why she killed herself? To keep something from taking her over?

I think the freakiest part was when Toyoma-san said, "Sadako, I love you" at the end, and then you hear him scream from a distance. Imagine saying that to Sadako yourself, ha!

reply

I had to turn the film off the first time I saw it, when I came to that scene. As you say, that facial expression... can't explain it, but damn it was scary!

"After I saw this film I was so terrified I had to sleep with the lights on for the first time since I was 12 (I'm 20 now). "

Look at what you said Contra-ZOOM. You say you're 12 when you watched this? If so how did you turn 20, if this film is made five years ago!

reply

Actually, he's saying that the last time he slept with the lights on was when he was 12. Though now he had to do so again, having seen the movie, at the age of 20.

So he's not saying that he saw the mvie at age 12, which would've been, as you point out, impossible.

reply

I didn't watch it when I was 12; I was just giving a frame of reference. I watched it last year.

My bones ached while watching this movie.

It has got to be either:

Shizuko approaching the mirror when the teacher visits the Yamamuras,
OR..
When evil-Sadako approaches the two T.G.S students in the cabin - that sound is creepy enough, but with her walk...

...shudder...

The bit near the end when she approaches the two students in the Cabin

When Sadako comes out around the corner in the cabin it scared the hell out of me. Yukie Nakama should've won awards for her role as Sadako.

reply

Well sorry for the misconception, Contra-zoom! And I totally agree with much of the said scenes. But one of those scenes that i remember is that when this girl in the chair, she's sitting there and she was found dead, had scared the hell out of my little brother.

reply

I thought Shizuko's facial expression was hilarious!

Dogs are so peaceful...Except when you wind them up hee hee

reply

Definitely when Sadako came around that corner in the cabin. It was just one of those things you know is gonna happen, and you just wait and wait and when it happens it knocks you on the a**.

reply

The movie was creepy. I think the most creepy parts (I don't really get scared at movies (unless it is jump-out scenes) were when Sadoko kills all the play cast members in the woods and then that aweful walk she does in the cabin with those absolutely disgusting sound effects...I love this movie!

I was more creeped out by the mother's face in the mirror, thought Sadako turning a corner was a close second.

The scary part about the scene with the mother was that her reflection in the mirror was staring directly at the teacher even though the angle was off. Plus, it reminded me of the recreated scene in Ringu 2 with the mother again, and I found that to be even scarier because she approaches the visitor close up with that angry, deranged look on her face.

The part where she lunges out from behind that corner was definately the freakiest.

*** SPOILERS ***

Everything involving little (or true) Sadako is scary, but for me the scariest scene in the movie is when Etsuko dreams that she is sitting alone in the dressing room and little Sadako walks behind her. It gives me the creeps, especially when Etsuko turns around and little Sadako is just standing there ... in the dream of course.

Definitely the part near the end, when Miyaji and Etsuko were cornered by a very creaky-boned Sadako.
