Lol Kupotek. I really liked this movie. Not scary, but I thought it was a great way to put together a prequel.

reply

Little boy why dont you go and post something usefull instead of dissing this movie. It was very scary and very Good. You have to be an idiot not to like this movie....
Japanese are very good and scaring people. Mixing with peoples emotions and fears, thats why this movie was a success

ps, dont watch the korrean version (Ring virus) its *beep* lol..........

reply

Dude, this movie is not scary. You are an idiot if you thought this movie was scary. I didn't want to say it, but there it is. And the Japanese are not very good at scaring people, they just make you think something scary is going on, and in their movies they have every oppurtunity to make their film scary, but they don't. It's just disappointing. And maybe you're right, maybe I was just wasting my time starting this thread, but it's my opinion, and I have every right to get it heard, and I respect your right to try and contradict my opinion. Just don't call me an idiot, and don't call me Little Boy. It's very insulting.

well it's no wonder you found the film disappointing - you probably wern't old enough to understand the film's emotional complexities. They don't put 15 and 18 certificates on films because of swearing and gore you know, it's because until someone has reached a certain age, they just won't be able to appreciate the work being made. My advice to you is stick to American films where there's lots of swearing and blood and the plot is easily laid out with all the answers in front of you - if there is a plot - maybe it will appeal to you.

Japan doesn't have monsters jumping out at you with people blasting their guns like Resident Evil, they do things more subtle. The horror is not in the monsters, but in human beings like Silent Hill. If you can't understand that then you either don't have the intelligence or you're not old enough or mature enough to understand. Japanese horror is for more seasoned adults who like something more intriguing to get their teeth into.

And before you reply with an insult, let me assure you that calling somebody an idiot (or worse)for finding this film scary just proves my point.

Hey have you watched it again in recent years? I thought it was weak too besides the original ringu none of these films really did it for me

reply

Now, now. The poster entitled to his own opinion without people criticizing him. (But Ringu 0? It's one of my favorite films!)

reply

While I liked Ring:0 I can't honestly say that it was scary. Apart from the last scene, it was little more than a love/sympathy story with some insight provided into Sadadko's past. It wasn't scary in the least.

reply

you're 14, its no wonder because you are still emotionally immature. When i was still a child I found gore movies and make-you-jump movies scary but thrillers less so. Now that i'm older, the only movies that scare me are the asian suspense types. I can safely say that i don't find western movies scary, none of them.

I would rate Ju-On as the scariest movie i have ever seen, followed by Ringu. Ringu 0 was less scary (apart from the cabin scene), but beautifully directed, much better than most horrors.

reply

People like this are why I don't like going on the IMDB boards. I can't express in words how annoying these people are.

reply

Lol, couldn't agree moe. This film terrifies me, especially the ending. I think the difference between American horror and Japanese horror is that in Americans horroes, it has to be big and brash and gory. There are very few subtle horror films. In the Ringu trilogy it'd what you're not seeing that is the really scary part. American horror films have tried this but always give in and show the monster or whatever and by the time they've built it up, nothing is going to be as scary as your imagination has made it.

Whatever guys - just voicing my opinion that this movie was not worth the time I gave it. $hit - if you get so annoyed by "people like me" then just ignore the damn post. I'm just representing the people who thought this movie was bollocks. And go right ahead, look down on me and feel better about yourself; go ahead and think you're superior because you appreciate foreign cinema. But a movie being good or bad is not fact; it is opinion. So you lot liking this movie makes you no smarter or even more mature than me. So get your fu©king head out of your arses.

I think you're mistaken. We never claimed to be 'superior'. You voiced your opinion without conjecture or even reason, and we replied on a DISCUSSION board as to why we disagreed. Try giving some reasons why you disliked the movie and back up your argument.

So, worst movie ever made then?

I value your opinion.

Yes, you are.

I didn't find the film all that scary but I loved it - more focus on the characters instead of how many times the film can fake a scare or show someone's head falling off. What I liked about this films, as well as the others (both original and American) is how they have a very tense atmosphere and they don't actually show the killings and have a lot of space to gather thoughts without going overkill and showing every thing through fast editing like other films do.

reply

Agreed. This movie sucked big time.

reply

Here's how it breaks down:

People that like the movie: "Here's what I liked about it.... gives reasons.

People that don't like the movie: "Because it sux...."

I don't think this movie is "a big ol' pile o' crap", but I really didn't like the sequence of events where the reporter and drama troupe conspired to kill Sadako; IMO, that entire sequence was shoddily executed and crippled the movie for me; only the ending saved it from complete mediocrity.
