Is this movie also named as 'Ringu 0: Birthday'?

Because i seen this movie around and it says ringu 0 but it says birthday. I dont know that other language. Im assuming japanese. but maybe its birthday in english.

reply

yes. 'ringu' is to 'ring' as 'Bâsudei' is to 'birthday'. both are english words which have been written in japanese using hiragana which isn't an alphabet as westerners are used to but the symbols represent whole syllables. when it is translated back into english it sounds a bit different.
there's quite a lot of discussion (argument) over whether it's silly to call the film Ringu when the name of the film is actually the english word 'ring'. for me, the films were released here (uk) as ring, ring2 ring0 and that's what i call them.

yeah, he's good at that
I'm assuming spiral and rasen are just straight translations though, asakawa?

reply

yupyup
some people have got a bit confused by uzumaki, thinking it means spiral also but 'vortex' would be a better translation of uzumaki.

even though spiral makes more sense in relation to the plot, vortex would just be a bit random really
arg, this is confusing
