I want to buy it on DVD. I normally rent before buying a film but I know for a fact that they won't have Ring 0 at my local videoshop (they only have mainstream movies. they got ring 1 and 2 on video though). so i going to buy it.
I heard that it's more of a tragic love story than a horror and that's ok with me. I can deal with that. I mean, A tale of two sisters only had a few scary bits but I still love that film.
so i just want to know if it's any good

It's a terrific film. Yukie Nakama should have won an award for her role as Sadako Yamamura. The last 15 minutes will haunt you.

Yeah I got the DVD. I bought it off Amazon with fingers crossed and I wasn't disappointed. It's wonderful and so sad yet somehow when it finished I felt spooked even though there weren't that many spooky bits in. It makes a lot more sense than 'Ring 2' which for the most part was just nonsense to me (why did people like that over Rasen?).
Truly an amazing film. I think more people should see this. I thank you for replying :)
