No sharks?

At one point in the movie, annoying spoiled Blondie says something to the point of, "there's no sharks in these waters." Did I miss something, I thought they were cruising in a bay on the coast of Brazil. I don't claim to know a thing about Brazil, other than it is in a tropical locale, which would seem a perfect place for sharks. Maybe I'm way off on this one, are there really no sharks off the coast of Brazil? Can't be.

Don't know, but probably they just didn't want the distracting extra issue.

I know it's an old thread, but the line raised a question with me, too:

Brazil has miles and miles and miles of beautiful coastline. One thing that distinguishes Brazil’s beaches from many in other countries such as Australia, South Africa, or the U.S., is that Brazil does not have sharks.

With the exception of the coast off of Recife, in the northeast.

There's more than enough two legged sharks cruising around that the aquatic variety were scared off.
