worth watching?

As I see only 1 person has ever posted on this, I doubt this will be answered... but is it worth watching?

Honey, I'm so proud of you. I watched you very closely, and you didn't screw up once!

Yeah, dude. The special features are arguably better than the film itself. There's one of the best "making of" documentaries I've ever seen. It includes things like the tunnel residents tapping into electricity cables to run the cameras.

There's a great "where are they now" feature as well. This is a DVD really worth owning.

I watched this film five years ago and it still one of the most astonishing feats of film making and honest unpretentious story i have ever witnessed! Big call but I mean it!

Absolutely stunning film, don't miss it.

I just watched it last night. Definitely a powerful film and it really shows homelessness and homeless people in a different light. I certainly won't look at people on the street the same way again.

Absolutely worth watching. Gives a representation of real humanity to a segment of the population that is so often dehumanized in our culture. Fascinating too.

I thought this film was fascinating. While the story seemed to meander a bit and come to a rather abrupt end, it nevertheless was an intense experience. I agree 100% with Steveorama in that it showed well the human side of homelessness that is often dehumanized, written off, and more or less ignored. It makes you reconsider many assumptions about other people and maybe even some about yourself. At least it did for me. Great documentary.

The film is excellent with a fantastic DVD package.

reply

For sure.

If you don't know too much about the background I'd recommend setting aside 4 hours then watching the movie, then the making of documentary, then the movie again back-to-back to get the most out of it.

reply

Thanks. I just saw my post history and found this.

so.....? did you watch it????

:-)

It's well worth watching. I've always wanted to see a movie like this, but didn't find out about it until yesterday. It's filmed in black and white, which gives it an even more eerie feel to it. It also features music by Dj Shadow. It was a well put together documentary. It was artsy, but it also presented how these people lived.

reply

Yeah I watched it.

Eye-opening. :)

I can't believe I'd missed this documentary until now. I remember hearing about the situation when they cleared the tunnels...years later I stumbled upon this gem. It's beautiful and touching...from the people you meet along the way to the unique filming.

Yeah this is amazing, 100% worth the watch, one of the best things i've seen in a while, and to read how the creator made it with hardly anything or no budget is just WOW... Well done. I hope it won some awards or something.
