It wasn't "all a dream"

The scene with the girl waiting for the phone to ring, slowly grinning when it finally does, with the man in the bag next to her rolling over when he hears the phone... that scene happens waaaaay in the beginning of the film, before they even go for the weekend break in the hotel and dreams start to kick in.

Are there dreams in the film? Hell yes, but not all of the horror element happens within dreams.

At the very least, she has a mutilated dude as a pet in her house ;)

The sequence near the end of the film where Aoyama discovers the guy in the sack in a house and the girl feeds him his vomit is clearly a dream.

If that is so, how could he have dreamt about the man in the sack in that house if he didn't actually see him before in his life and he didn't even know where the girl lived?

It's more logical that he was daydreaming when he imagined the girl grinning and the guy in the bag at the beginning before he picked up the phone to call her.
