Most subtly creepy part

Just a small part that creeped me out was the scene where she is shown waiting by the phone for ages, he calls her, there is a close up of her frowning face, which slowly shows her start to smile when realizing he is (finally) calling.

Agreed that really creeped me out and i jumped to the ceiling when the bag moved.

-John, I love you.
-In the play. I know.
-I`m going to kiss you.
-No point.

reply

Yeah, the few things in the room really added to it. The phone, the bag and her. And her smile was creepy as hell.

It was about an hour into the movie too, and was the first creepy thing in it so all the more shocking for it. It built nicely to that turning point (and the jumpy bag) then gathered momentum after that.

Awight we're The Daamned we're a punk baand and this is called Carn't Be Appy T'day!

Probably the best scene in the whole movie.

reply

I agree it was a creepy scene, but what in the world was subtle about that?

reply

The part when they're at dinner in one of the restaurants and she just happens to say in passing "I'll hurt you". It came before even the bag scene, so it was really effective as subtle foreshadowing.

No she said IT WILL hurt you.

I realize that I'm replying to a post which is SEVEN years old, but I wanted to leave my interpretation here. These are his subconscious feelings. He is scared that she might be doing just that, sitting and waiting. The emptiness of the room represents how little he knows about her. The sack means the "luggage" she might be hiding.

interesting interpretation, nonetheless that scene was indeed very creepy

so many movies, so little time
