What did you think of this movie?

I had the opportunity to see this movie yesterday. I thought it was well written and the actress who played Tum (Lalita Panyopas) was very good. I thought there were parts which didn't really make sense to me...

*SPOILERS AHEAD

like why Tum maybe didn't try to put tape on her apartment number so that it wouldn't keep falling. I mean by the time Berm and Noi were dead, she should have fixed that damn number. But besides little stuff like that, I thought the story was going to turn out a bit predictable, but there were more than a few surprises. Like Kanjit's business partner Tong being Tum's former boss. Also another thing worth noting certain music in the movie was kind of funky (in a good way.) All in all, I rather enjoyed it. What were other people's opinions?

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality, direction, story, and production values. Perhaps this didn't do that well in Thailand, but it was quite well made and the twists and turns kept it interesting all the way through. The Bhuddist quote at the end of the movie was a bit moralistic, but in it's own way added to the film.

I quite liked Lalita Panyopas' acting and though I would not consider her a Thai beauty her portyal was endering. It wasn't hard to feel sorry for her and worry about what was going to happen to her next.

As to the apartment number problem, I think there is almost always a device in a movie that logically could have been taken care of, but as with so many, this small device was necessary to the story.

I saw this as an On-Demand movie by the way. I almost rented it last month, but at the time was not in the mood to endure sub-titles.

Yadda yadda yadda this is my signature line

Excellent! Not everyone have heard of this movie....yet...I bet ya not until the remake release. I hate them remakes.

Getting back with little flaw about how come she didn't tape up her room number. I imagine myself being in her situation and after killing two men I think the last thing in my mind is taping up the room number.

bbean-1,

I saw this movie on demand too! That's funny. I also saw another great movie, JSA (Joint Security Area), http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0260991/, on demand under the Palm Pictures section as well. And I hear you about the 6 constantly flipping to the #9 being logical to the story, just thought it was funny that's all. I had never heard of Palm Pictures prior to watching some of their movies on cable but I will make a effort to go check out more of what they have.

"The Bhuddist quote at the end of the movie"

I didn't know Truman Capote was a Buddhist.

I've seen JSA too and I really enjoyed it and hope to see Last Life soon. I really liked this movie and especially the main character. It was just really interesting and well shot.

printersareus,

Last Life in the Universe is an incredible film! The performances are amazing, the music... well at times seems out of this world. You music alone will draw you in. Definitely see Last Life in the Universe.

I'm going to get it from Netflix this weekend. Can't wait.

Loved it. I thought the neighbor downstairs (did you notice her apt was also "6") was great.

My wife is from Thailand, so when we are over there we will go to the movies a few times each visit. Thai movies in general are horrible, sure they come out with one or two that maybe make it overseas, but the vast majority are just awful.

I got this film on Netflix today, and just finished watching it. For a Thai film, I thought it was pretty good. I didn't like some of the stupid humor, and over exagetated acting, but there was much less that most of the Thai films I've seen.

I thought the lead actress, Lalita Panyopas, was hot. I was saddened to see that this was her only film.

About that number thing, it isn't like the problem started that day, it had been an ongoing problem, and all it would have taken was a thumb tack, which they have plenty of in Thiland.

Y'all got it all wrong

Buddhism never mentions anything about God...

This was a well-filmed nail-biter with a rather sardonic sense of humor, but I found myself cursing at the protagonist at the very end. SPOILER: to go through everything that she did and then toss it...I understand WHY she did it, but it was still stupid.

No it wasn't. She would never have got out of the country with all that cash. So it would've been MORE grief for her to even try, and after all she'd been through, she made the absolute right decision -- for her character -- and it made for an ideal ending to the film.

This movie is morbid, stylish, comic, plus it contains a quite interesting commentary about Thai society of one decade ago.

I liked it, what else can I add?
