Was Donal Logue wearing a fat suit???

He has never been that fat.

reply

no...he has been that fat...He has lost a few lbs. in the past 5 years

reply

No *beep* way that he was that fat. Sure, he's been chubby but not obese (like he was in the movie).

reply

he gained the weight for the role

reply

It still didn't look right. He looked obese from the side, but his face didn't look fat at all.

reply

Haha, I was about to post the same topic. I agree though, it looks like he's wearing a fat suit.

I came here for the same reason. He has to be wearing a fat suit. I think it was pretty obvious.

Wasn't there a part in the film where he got in the swimming pool but did NOT take his t-shirt off (which if he did, probably would have revealed a fat suit)?

reply

According to interviews he gained 30 pounds for the role and that wasn't enough so they made him wear a fat suit as well.

reply

i always thought he was actually fat in this movie until recently. i watched him in sneakers, which came out before this movie, and he wasnt nearly this fat. i have a hard time believing that anyone would gain 60 lbs for a romantic comedy. Also, if you look at him, his arms and legs arent really chubby, and he has a beard, which can make someone look fat in the face. And the whole "not taking the shirt off" thing is strike three. fat suit all the way.

He said on an episode of "Loveline" that he did wear a fat suit.

I came here for the same question and figured the same thing- had to have been wearing a fat suit because he's never been that big and nobody would be that committed to the role or this movie, which, while good, was probably a labor of love and wasn't lucrative for anybody involved.

It really is the worst fake belly I've ever seen. How many fake bellies have I actually seen? I can't be sure since you don't notice the good ones. This one however, is terrible. It's like they gave him a fake pregnant belly meant for a woman. It's super high up and just does not look right. I think they could've just given him some padded baggy clothes and it would've gotten the point across. Still love the movie though.

It also looks too light: there's no heft to it. They often make this mistake with props too, like coffee cups that are supposedly full but which you can see are really light.

But like you, I do love this movie anyway.

So funny you mention light props because I have another example! I am pseudo embarrassed to say that I was watching "Return to Me" the other night and David Duchovney gets a chinese food delivery. When he grabs the bag from the delivery person it is so obviously light. How hard would it be to give it a little heft? Put a pebble in there or something at least. One pebble!
