Philems 'n Bukes

Is this really how the Irish talk? Even after the movie was finished, I wasn't sure if that guy's name was Felix, Philip or Phelim. And for some reason he thought by writing a buke about the story of the rat, it would be adapted into a philem?

Weird stuff. This certainly isn't your happy Mouse Hunt story, if that's what you're looking for. As other threads may suggest, this rat was treated pretty badly (Oh my god, I would never toss a live rat over a 10 foot fence... I love animals!!). I know he was often robotic in the movie, but still.

For the record though, there's also nothing cuter in this world than to see a stethescope on a mouse's heart... awwwwwww (Not to mention the miniature coat he was wearing!).

OK film, but people who love animals will have a tough time with some scenes. Netflix now has it available to Watch Instantly as well as on DVD, and I'm glad I did see it:

The "buke" as you call it is just another word for a book. It is just that he had one of the many irish accents that are scattered throughout ireland.

As for tossing the rat, the whole film was based on irish humor, being Irish I found it hilarious.
