bittersweet movie every teen in the hood should see

i watched this movie with my 15yr old brother and it was startling to see that it actually drew his eyes from his computer screen where he was playing some neverending mystical adventure game. he was actually interested in the way these girls' lives were gonna turn out. i originally turned the movie on because i am a fan of kerry washington, but i think it was a bittersweet movie that drew me in and made me think of the choices i made at that age (i am not a moment older now, so the experiences still resonate).

good movie about girls coming of age in the hood that i think every young person (girl & boy) should see.
