In the time of all the white casted teen flicks such as thirteen.. it is refreshing to see one that tackles the minds, hopes & frustrations of inner city young ladies.
Everyone did a fine job in bringing the characters to life. Kerry Washington continues shows her gift, Ms Martinez and Ms. Simpson should be in more movies.

i agree with you this was a great movie. it felt so real even though they were just acting. it felt like you were watching their lives live. the thing i like about the movie is that it didnt protray the ghetto is just crime-ridden and just ppl that dont care about life. it showed what childhood was like and how they hope for a better way. It was just about the girls and their everyday lives. It wasnt overacted. One of the best movies ive seen in a long time.
shareI agree with B3B that this movie wasn't overacted. Looking at the movie was like looking out of my window. Everything about the movie's plot was real and believable. I, too, was glad that the three main characters weren't portrayed as uneducated ghetto hood rats, but yet as three growing high school students participating in positive extracurricular activities in there neighborhood.

shareI absolutely agrre with you. Great film. I noticed that Kerry Washington's spanish in this movie was very very good. From the moment I first saw her in "Save the Last Dance" she looked Dominican.
And from this movie...I think its been confirmed.
