For those comparing this to 'Tom + Jerry'...

...the director's son says in an interview that his father did not see a Tom & Jerry film until 1987. (oh, BURN! :) In fact, he got a lot of his inspiration from a few Disney films which were brought over after WW2, particularly Bambi.
