Male bias (SPOILERS)

I'm a male, for the record.

I don't get it. We're following a man who is tempted to cheat on his fiancee just because he sees someone who he is attracted to. It seems as though we're supposed to sympathize with him because, what, his fiancee won't have sex in a dentist's chair? This other girl is willing to try it, so he cheats.

He then proceeds to try to cover it up and kisses his fiancee like everything is normal. He doesn't try to break up with her, since obviously he's not happy being in a committed relationship. He even sleeps with his fiancee while thinking about the other girl. He seems more than pleased to keep visiting and kissing her in her motel room, while keeping his fiancee in the dark. He never admits to the affair until he is finally caught. Even then, he doesn't seem guilty. He just says sorry and then goes off to woo his mistress once again.

So basically we have this weasel-like lead character who is supposed to be our hero. Then, CONVENIENTLY, the fiancee turns out to be evil. But he didn't know this fact the whole time he was acting like a scumbag. It just doesn't sit right with me.

As for the male bias, I just can't see people liking this movie if it were about a woman who cheats on her boyfriend just because some hot guy shows up. Who can root for a character like this? There are PLENTY of ways to make a decent thriller/dark comedy with flawed, realistic characters but without making them seem so unapologetically shallow and inconsiderate.
