Other good Czech films - ?

When the film began, I thought there was a possibility that I might not get through it because of Nazi-occupied setting. Who would have believed that there would actually be some very humorous scenes that didn't seem out of place at all. It was simply a brilliant film - great writing and acting, but most of all great message. The only downside for me was the "frenzied" or surreal camera technique used at times, very disconcerting. Anyway, can anyone recommend other good Czech films to me as both of the ones I have seen now (Divided we Fall and Stesti) were excellent.

in last decade were few realy good czech movies done, to name some of them:

samotari (the loners), Horem pádem (up and down), Pelísky (cosy dens), Kolja (kolya), vratne lahve (empties)...

if you'd dig more in the past, you'd find plenty of hidden treasures... like Spalovac mrtvol (the cremator), Vesnicko má stredisková (sweet little village) or my personal favourite Slavnosti snezenek (The Snowdrop Festival)...

some of these are quite hard to understand (I mean little nuances etc) if you have no knowledge of czech history or mentality (czechs are realy nuts - I am one too) but generaly they are all beautiful stories about regular people.. enjoy!

Juraj Herz's 1969 The Cremator is an amazing film http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0063633/

Highly recommended

I agree : Spalovac mrtvol is a masterpiece !

A terrible one, though; meant as a compliment considering what kind of film it is.
Just, it is terrifying. Definitely not a feel-good one.
