Its so crazy how so many people can love a movie and then so many people can HATE it with a passion. I think this movie has everything you'd want in a romantic comedy: it made me cry (**SPOILER**) when kate had a misscarriage, and tons scenes made me laugh and smile (Famke and John tring to make eachother jealous w/ new lovers)... there are a lot of emotions in this movie and everything that happens is soooo true to make can and do happen in relationships. Make it wasn't filmed the greatest, I mean it doesn't deserve to win any awards, but it is truly a great love story. I rent it at least twice a year. :)

I agree 100%. I love this movie so much! I don't watch it too often, though, because I don't want to tire of it. Jon and Famke did an outstanding job.

I got this movie free with new woman magazine. (ireland) And I loved it to bits. it was a great honest movie. it was really fantastic. It may not win an award but most of the movies that do don't deserve it.

i'm from south africa, and i'd never heard of it, it's not even in our video stores. it just happened to be on tv the one day and i loved it. i think it could have had a more imaginative title. this one kind of makes the movie sound like it's something it's not..

i think it's great but i may be biased cos of my own episode of bad timing that i hope gets resolved! I'm also a fan of both famke and jon.

I agree: the Title is a typical Hollywood promotion, suggesting prurient sex & the usual crap they produce.

This film was a revelation to me. It was so obviously directed by a woman; the sensitivity of the script & the pacing.

No car crashes; no writhing bodies to soupy soundtrack "musak" in soft-focus.

Just a good story, well told & brilliantly acted.

Until now, Famke Janssen was a killer in a rubber suit in "Goldeneye" - now she is so watchable.

I would disagree that this film is not in Oscar territory.

If Michael Caine - a very limited Cockney one trick pony - can be awarded an Oscar - and a title from Luvvie Tony Blair - surely this gem of a film need not be so overlooked.

The several postings on these pages alone testify.

Actually there is a car crash (Porche 911 v. Volkswagen Beetle) :-). I thought that scene was funny (sorry to quote you 8+ years later but I just watched the film for the first time today).

It's difficult to remember what things were like when this film was released but I thoroughly enjoyed it now.

I definitely agree that this movie is underrated. Favreau and Famke have great chemistry together and should team up again. I really hope Famke gets to show off her comedic chops more in the future. I thought they really captured the different phases of a relationship real well. Plus Famke in braces with that French teacher is priceless. :)

Jon and Famke were also in this movie called "Made" which also has Vince Vaughn in it, so you would think it would be funny, but ummm it wasnt. Famke made me sad. Jon and Vince were ok. I can not say i felt any cheese sandwich for"Made", But i do love this movie. I couldnt stop laughing when he told her she had E.T. Fingers.

I completely agree. I loved this movie, I was so engrossed in their relationship and I was pretty much glued to the screen and listening to everything they said. And I love the "cheese sandwich" line, thats so true.

famke janssen is hot in this movie. she, alone, is enough to give the movie a 7. but i haven't seen the movie, (only pictures of famke) so i can't really decide what to give it. (maybe a 7 for famke.;>)

You say that "famke janssen is hot in this movie...but i haven't seen the movie..." ??? Does that make sense?

hear, hear! this movie IS highly underrated. for another movie of that ilk, see 'kicking and screaming' (the baumbach one, not the horrid ferrell one)

Yeah, I love this movie, it is one of my all time fav movies, and I can't wait to show it to my bf, but he might not like it as much as I did :( It has everything, and I still cry when she has the miscarriage :(

I also caught part of it on IFC and watched it in its entirety recently. I cheese sandwich Adam.

So much time and so little to do. Wait a minute. Strike that. Reverse it.

I had never heard of the movie and happened to catch it on HBO (U.S.) a couple of weeks ago and absolutely loved it! At first I didn't think it would be something I'd be interested in, but it didn't take long for the brilliant dialogue to grab me. I want to try and watch it again tonight.

This is a very good movie, not perfect, but awfully charming. This is definitely a Screw the Critics Movie.
