Notice that Arnie does not touch a single gun in this entire movie?

Has anyone noticed that Arnold does not touch a single gun in this movie? He only kills people with his bare hands, axes, and makeshift explosives.

It could have been a lot better.

They were going for realism. Arnie plays a firefighter, not a cop. He'd have no reason to be proficient with guns. This movie isn't trying to be Commando. Arnie also kills very few people in this movie.

And there is why it failed. We do not go to see a an Arnie Movie for the acting or the realism of the movies. We go to escape from the reality that surround us and to be transported (ala Last Action Hero) to a world where guns fire 30 times without reloading, where the good guys have all the coolest weapons, where the bad guys have the upper hand but somehow, the hero always wins at the end.

This is why I think Arnie failed. It worked with Bruce Willis, but he is actually a good actor, Arnie in the other hand was a "cool" actor.

Ok, Maxpayne...

Before you call people something you use every day to guard your personal hygiene products, you should take some time from masturbating to Saved by the Bell reruns in your momma's house basement to expand your tiny closed mind and try and know what are you talking about.

I love it when some douchebag like you says "It Failed", as if your opinion alone makes a movie a bomb and/or unwatchable. This movie was liked by critics, made MILLIONS of dollars

IMDB USER Rating 5.2 out of 10

Yahoo Critics C, Yahoo users C+

So even at an optimistic BEST is an average action film.

Millions you say? Well of course it did. But not enough.

Are you any good at math?

Production Budget: $85 million
Domestic Total Gross: $40,077,257
Foreign: $38,305,176
= Worldwide: $78,382,433

Now I am no matemathician but it seems this movie cost more than it made WORLWIDE. Wow...That has a name...What is the word I am looking for...hmm...Oh..FAILURE

Now I say again...

Where do you base that this movie was NOT a failure. Cause you liked it?..You can like to eat pieces of s$it for breakfast, that does not make it a good wholesome part of a balanced breakfast. Especially if it is GENERAL KNOWLEDGE that it is crap and its bad for you.

This movie is a textbook example of what a big budget, big superstar, badly written and executed bomb is.

Now after facing the cold hard facts and posting some light into that tiny cold world you call life...Who's the douche?....Douche

That just proves that rating at this site is a lot of bull$hit. This movie was great. How come you give it a bad rating just because Arnold doesnt use guns?? its stupid. He can do a very good job even without using guns and this is the proof. His character was not meant to use them because that would have changed the entire plot which is perfect as it is. Thats why i never listen to ratings at IMDB. Just see how many overrated movies they have here, like batman begins and the Dark Knight. This movie was so much better than those 2 and got a much lower ranking. Why is it so unfair? because people are a bunch of morons. Arnold doesnt kill anybody in Terminator 2 either despite using guns and so what? its a great movie. So dont be so prejudiced.

I agree with you that this movie received unfair low ratings. However, I also recognize that everyone is entitled to their own opinions and I don't attempt to influence them based on my preferences. But like you, I try not to allow them to interfere with my enjoyment and you may try a more subtle way of getting across your point without labeling or name calling. Nevertheless, that's your right as a poster but it may not provide you with the responses or the results that you desire. Try a more humble approach instead.

I'm glad someone else noticed!

He never shoots anybody! I noticed the moment it was over the very first time.

But I still smirked in peace when he threw an axe into a guy's heart while screaming "NOOOOW!" ......Classic! Wouldn't have felt right without it.

It made me feel warm and cuddly inside knowing that something as bad ass as that took place.

Not just getting butt-stroked by a bad guys rifles, Arnold actually does intentionally touch a gun, an AK-47 Kalashnikov. In the scene in the Columbian rain forest the woman and child are hiding behind a tree, and Arnie is behind another tree. Bad guy comes around Arnie's tree, gun first, Arnie grabs it and tosses it aside so as to disarm the baddie, and not give away his position to the other bad guys, then ends up fighting right over a pop-up land mine. Baddie falls on it, "Kerboom!" and gives away their position anyhow.

its arnold...he doesnt need any gun. :P
