This is NOT 'THE BRIDGE'

There seems to be some confusion about whether this film is an earlier version of "Die Brucke" (The Bridge) directed by Bernhard Wicki. It is definately not; for a start the Wicki film (released 1959) is based on the reasonably wellknown novel by Manfred Gregor, published in 1958, so this 1949 film clearly has no relationship to the book.

Also, after a fair amount of searching, I have found that this film, the Pohl, is about displaced persons in Western Europe in the immediate post-WW2 period, and not about the last actions of WW2 in Germany.

This may seem obvious to some, but I was for a while quite confused by this and made an effort to find out the true facts.
