Picked it up. Looks great. A HUGE improvement over the DVD transfer.

Yes, it's in 1.33:1 (as was the original DVD release of the PG version of the film), but it's open-matte. For whatever reason, the Uncut DVD was cropped to a 1.78:1 widescreen ratio (but with 1.33:1 closing credits...which is, frankly, baffling). The Uncut DVD transfer was non-anamorphic, and looks pretty bad. The BD transfer, by comparison, is fantastic, with vibrant colors and a level of detail that really shows off the animators' great line-work.

As for aspect ratios, neither can really be considered "wrong," since it was originally released in 1.33:1, while the Uncut version was 1.78:1. This transfer represents the original ratio, but with the Uncut content. It won't fill your 16x9 screen, but you get about 30% more picture, and a jump in picture quality that's immeasurable.

Uh, it does? How does one access the cut version? As far as I can tell, the BD only includes the Uncut PG-13 version.

Yeah...an uncut Blu-ray and an uncut DVD. Just like every other copy out there.

There's no PG version on either disc.

I was under the impression that the differences were very slight, and the uncut version was preferred. After looking at my copy it does appear to be only the uncut version but is this really a big problem?
