Help me to understand the show!!!

its about an ugly secretary who is the right hand of this guy (dunno the name), he is the president of this company i dunno how it was called, but everthing gets messed up when the company is almost broke and betty showed her boss that she is really smart and clever. I saw the show a long time ago i hope you enjoyed as well... in real life betty isnt what she looks like!!!

The guy with the glasses is Betty's best friend. He is also "ugly" and a nerd like Betty. He is just as smart as she is and helps her with all the financial information and ideas to save the company Betty works for. He doesn't work for the company, but is her neighbor, and they went to school together. Eventually, Betty recommends him for a vice-president position at the company.

Netty's boss is not so bright, but Betty is in love with him, thus she helps him with the company.

Betty is clumsy and always tripping and falling, "ugly", wears thick eye-glasses and braces, has a dorky laugh, but she is sweet, funny, and a Financial Whiz.

She entered to work for the Ecomoda, a modeling agency, as a secretary because although she has a Master's in Ecomomics and a Doctorate in Finance, which she obtained from prominent Ivy-League like universities and graduated with honors, and at the top of her class, her "ugly" appearance has kept her from obtaining a job as an executive. So she settles for a secretary job for the President of this company. She is also poor and needs to work in order to help her parents.

The series is hilarious. Betty is made fun of by the people who she works for, the Marketing Executive who is a stockholder in the company, and the fiance of the president(Betty's boss), The Vice-president who is best friends to the president,the receptionist who is best friends with the president's fiance, The Executive Model Agent who is gay and can't stand Betty because he says she hurts his eyes and makes him un-well, LOL, etc. They all make fun of Betty for her appearance. But it doesn't face her at all because to her being ugly has always been a part of who she is, thus she is used to all the commotion in reference to her looks. At times, she even makes fun of herself.

Her boss's Fiance does not like Betty. She had recommended her best friend for the job Betty got. She wanted her best friend to be the secretary to the president, her man, so that her best friend can keep an eye on him and keep her informed of all his mis-bahavior. Her fiance is a notorious playboy. Her best friend ended up as the receptionist because her fiance knew exactly what she was up to. He knew she wanted her best friend to keep track of all his moves. So as not to have any problems with his fiance, he hired Betty as his secretary and his fiance's best friend as his receptionist. But the best friend gets an executive salary and is a blonde bimbo in search for a rich husband, while Betty gets a miserable pay and runs the company. Needless to say that both the receptionist and the boss' fiance declared war on Betty from that day forward. They plot against her every chance they got so she would lose the job. But her boss always defends her because he knew where all the intrigues and instigations came from, and he needs her to help him run the company.

The fact that he always defends Betty, sees beyond her "ugliness" to recognise how bright she is, and made her his right hand or should we say, she is the one running the company, made Betty fall in love with him because he has been the only man ever to SEE her or pay any attention to her.

Betty becomes part of a club of secretaries who all work at the company. They call their club, "The Club Of the Uglies". They help Betty fight off the Fiance and the receptionist by instigating their own plans and ideas to help Betty with all her projects against all odds and her antagonists. They become Betty's best friends and protectors. They are a big part of why this series is sooo hilarious. The club is composed of a tall, Giraffe looking, middle-aged, never been married woman(she is so tall that she intimidates men and can't really find one taller than she who would marry her, LOL), a sexy, young, single mother of one who is in search of a husband and a father for her son, but she has never been lucky in love, an older woman who plays the role of the wiser of them all and of a mother figure, a fat and short woman who reads the Tarot cards,and a single older mother of 2 who's ex-husband left her for another woman, who rarely pays child support, are constantly arguing over it, and whom she and the rest of the members refer to as The Enemy. LOL......

Basically I described to you Betty La Fea. Now you can imagine all the funny things that happen episode after episode. Betty day dreaming over her boss while she trips, falls, bump people, her friends coming up with crazy plans to help Betty overcome all her obstacles, Betty helping her boss trying to hide all his affairs from his fiance and trying to salvage the company he has almost destroyed due to his poor financial choices, the gay model agent with all his daily DRAMAS and disgust towards Betty, everytime he sees her, he gets some sort of allergy..LOL. It is hilarious I tell you.

Why would it be dubbed in Italian? Are you in Italy?
If you are in the states its seems it would be dubbed in English.
When it was originally broadcast here in Texas, it was the original actors speaking in Spanish. However, it did have Spanish captions and I was able to read those and look in my Spanish-to-English dictionary and I figured out most of it from that.
However, the explanation given in a previous post on this thread is the best explanation of the show I have seen. That is exactly what it is about!

it comes on now (July 06) in Austin each night but it is an inferior production --done in Mexico. Its much sillier than the Colombian production, and even tho that one had some comic moments, the Colombian one was excellent.
