reply

Hi,well I'm looking around in the internet to see if there are Betty la Fea DVD, but nothing. Can anyone tell me if they know what stores might be selling this tv series in DVD? If you can, I will appreciate it. It enjoyed it alot and I want to see it again.

reply

NO, NO , NO it isn't on dvd! here's the thing, here in Colombia that custon of releasing soaps on dvd it's like a novelty, it's never been done before, the tv on dvd market isn't very wide, the only thing that we have are american, british and french series that arrive here Region 4, but things 100% colombian aren't released on dvd..that's sad, I know, but it's reality.

reply

que hubo, hederanibal ;) hey is betty la fea still popular over there? is it talked of still? have u hear of this new dumb imitation of it: la fea mas bella? how could they!!

reply

Ugh yes it's disgusting, but it's not made by Colombia, it's made by mexicans, by televisa I guess, i very bad

Are your eyes working, el vaca? La fea mas bella is a virtual cartoon. The acting and direction (overall production) is so bad that they result to using cartoon sound effects and music for emphasis. They should change the name to "Esta novela es la mas fea!"

reply

That novela was made in Colombia for canal caracol and everybody on it, is just colombian actors, no from Mexico

This may be a bit late, but I recently bought Betty La Fea on ebay--100$ and it came fast. ("Betty la Fea" is super popular) It looks like an amateur taping but adequate. If you do a search (on dogpile.com for example) and put in "telenovela for sale" you will find this one for sale definitely. Some of the other Telemundo ones which included various Colombian and Brazilian ones in the past like "Por que Diablos" and "Amantes del Desierto " are harder to find. Here in the US they are mostly producing their own soaps now. You can find "El Clon" (O Clon in Portugues) easily though and of course most any recent Univision one.

You could try www.carol4ever-telenovelas.com/ It's likely to be pricey tho as this person is in Spain and the euro/dollar rate isn't that good.

To anyone: maybe it's just my TV but I can't get the closed captions (in Spanish) to work when I play the "Betty" DVD and the Colombian Spanish can be tough for me. I am fairly sure when this was broadacast over the air it had closed captioning. They use a lot of slang too; we need a Colombian slang book but there isn't one yet as far as I can tell!

yes, you are right, the original Betty la Fea was captioned. I taped it everyday and read the captions. This was in 1999-2001...I truly loved it.

I am not Spanish speaking or reading--but my best friend is from Monterrey and she explained the previous nights show to me when I was confused.
however, she also said Colombian Spanish is different from Mexican and she did not understand some of the slang terms. I read the Spanish captions and it helped me learn Spanish.

It is the same with movies made in Britain or United Kingdom for English audiences....
they use so much slang that Americans are unfamiliar with. Like the movie The Full Monty was made in England. If you watch it with captioning its like a foreign language. Not familiar American slang at all.

I mean you can understand most of it, but they express themselves in ways that are not familiar in US,,,
There is so much influence in the US from many other languages and cultures. it changes from year to year, I am serious!

Did you find it? Please let me know!

Hi, I bought Betty La Fea from E-bay and stupidly paid $100 for it. It is not an original box set, but it is taped from Antena 3 in Spain. I was there when it first came out, so I know. But anyway, they are always selling copies of Betty la Fea on E-bay, but the sellers want $100 plus for it. So, I'm enjoying it right now, but I am very unhappy about how much I paid for it.

You can download "Yo soy Betty la fea", "Yo soy Bea", and the others versions of this novela in Emule.

reply

The Emule route is a good one, although if you have a slow connection or low id, it will take a while. The files are of good quality though. Another solution is to check on youtube. Although you can't get every full episode exactly, you can watch most of the story unfold. Good luck!

reply

hello, can u give me a link on this so called emule? i cant find it. thanks.

reply

Sorry it took me a while to get back to you. Emule is a type of peer-to-peer file-sharing software. It can be downloaded at emule-project.net. I would suggest understanding what it's about clearly before you download it, however.

reply

you can download some episodes from you tube....on the site Vixy.net.
the quality is not great but at least you can see it.
