Can someone explain why actresses like Maria Eugenia Arboleda...
have such a hard time getting work in this industry, especially it seems if you're a 'dark-skinned' latina?
Not trying to play the race card here, and I do realize there are other actresses who are not dark-skinned and are looking for work, but unless it's maybe just me I often wonder why actresses like Maria, Muriel Fouilland (now Muriel Laboriel), and some others seem to get less of a chance in their industry.
Tais Araujo seems to be the 'only' latina (although, I don't think Brasilians use the latina/latino term) who has been able to 'break the mold' so to speak, no other 'dark-skinned' one has been able to do it yet. I'd love to see Maria, Muriel, or any other 'ds' woman take on a role (the lead of course)that Tais made famous as Preta in 'Da Cor Do Pecado' (El Color Del Pecado here in the States), but sadly 'Telemundo', Univision, Caribe Vision, nor any of the other networks seem 'willing' to even take a chance on any that fit the profile to do the role.
