New guy is just not funny...

At least not so far. He's awkward and 'twitchy'... don't like it :s

Hey

I live in Denmark and seen this series on BBC Entertainment.

I saw the newer episodes where George plays poker and gets the new body.
Thus I new, only 6 season from reading of it inhere, but had not yet read the reason.

Thus when see James as George, I thought; " he is no good in this role, meaybe is why only this season with".
And then reading, exactly this reason.

I can only agree, James does not suit this role.
Ardel was the best for this role.

And by the way, Emily is beautiful woman. Loves she get the hair longer and longer.

Yeah I just watched it last night on BBC Entertainment as well.

Frankly I think *I* do a better impersonation of George Sunday than this guy, and the resemblance is not exactly uncanny... more like... ok, they both have the same'ish color hair, and that's about it. The guy is cooky, but not cooky cute in the George Sunday way.

And I thought the production of the new episode was kind of weird as well... they even included a scene where "Janet" almost gets her line wrong.

Still... the episode itself was quite amusing... but damned I miss Ardal...

I agree. It began going down hill when they had the baby, but when they replaced the actor it really went overboard.
I think all of us could do better impersonations of George Sunday than that new guy. (Can't be assed to look his name up). :P

I have just seen another episode, Sidekick.

The new George is too much...
Is not even funny, is awkward!
He seems like he is gay... The old George not like that.
Also seemed more sexual... George normally not like that before.
All this makes the episodes vulgar, which actually is no fun. :(

Also Janet talked otherwise than she seemed to be.
Even the Dawkins seemed totally weird, and they normally seems to be normal.

Sorry this series should go down with this. Ardal were the best George!

It's like he got serious braindamage when Tyler made tea off of his soul-teabag or something, it's just not funny. I totally agree that he acts awkward, and yeah, weirdish.

I thought even the camera angling and production etc. seemed off...

Which scene is it where janet almost forgets her line? I'd be interested in seeing that. I watch it every night and have never noticed that :P

reply

I never could finish an episode with Ardal. I find myself watching the new My Hero and actually laugh once in a while.
Ardal was too childish for my taste.

Dear Notcha-hooha, mookie mookie hama. Kau-kau manua.

I liked them both. James Dreyfus, in my opinion, was as funny as Ardal.

reply

I agree with sledgeinc-1 I think both were as funny as one another. It was just down to the scriptwriting during the FINAL series. Not as many have stated down to James Dreyfus' acting ability.

reply

don't recall seeing the actor who plays the new george in anything else so maybe it's just a miscasting but he's just awful. I've seen more acting skill and comedic ability in a broken pencil

The new actor was in both of 'Gimme Gimme Gimme' and 'The Thin Blue Line'.
