i watched Buffy and and i noticed his guess role in it,
and i also watched popular but i never paid close enough attention to notice his role as adam.

the mini was downright fantastic. It would've been a shame for the same cast to waste their talents on such a dumb series. I watched one or two episodes, and I hated it.

Wentworth Miller is amazing and i was sooo dissapointed when the t.v. shoe came on and it was not the same actors as the mini series.. They made a huge mistake and im sure they will regret it

I think the actors were smmart not to join the cast of the TV series, because it was so bad. I watched it until it went off the air (which was pretty quick). The Mini-series was so much better. I taped it when it was on a few years ago and just re-watched it this weekend. It was like watching it for the first time because I forgot so much of it. It was so great and the actors did such a great job!

Can anyone tell me whether the story in the mini and the TV series are the same or is the TV series a sequel to the mini ??

reply

The TV Series was a lot better than the mini-series! The mini-series was very boring and the actors weren't as good as they were on the TV Series! The actors in the tv series were a whole lot better and they played the characters a lot better!

who was a better karl? erik von detten or the one with wentworth? :)

To clarify.

The miniseries Dinotopia was a three part series that ran for two hours on Sunday nights. In total its around a 5+ hour movie. The movie starts of with Karl, David, and their father taking a plane to island hop. Unfortunately, there plane hits a mysterious band of rain. The plan goes down, and we see the boys swim to a shore. The boys then go through education, occupations, and adventures. Finally it wraps up with them going with Sirus Crabbe on expedition to the world below to retrieve the precious sun stones. The adventure from there takes a few turns as things don't go as planned.

The tv series was a reaction to the high ratings and critics' reviews to the miniseries. It takes off where the miniseries left. Since there expedition to the world below, and the gathering of sun stones. Karl and David are no longer rule breakers, but heroes. They now have to uphold that title while learning to still live and work within the laws of Dinotopia. They have a new threat with a group of men and women known as the outsiders. These are people who have lived on the Island but have refused to obey the laws of Dinotopia (they kill T-Rexes). The episodes were more actioned packed than the slow miniseries however lacked the acting of the miniseries as well as the special effects and set design. Eventually cost, low ratings, and bad reviews led to the decision to cancel the show midseason.

Overall the miniseries was wonderful. It can be slow at times, but remeber it has to focus on two boys who have televisions, computers, and internet adjusting to life that not only hasn't those things but HAS Dinosaurs as well. The special effects and set design were worthy of the name Dinotopia.

The series used cheaper everything, and took on a Xena-ish look with the main character of the outsiders.

I would suggest watching both if you are interested. Overall both were different and new, shame that not enough people enjoyed something different and family orriented.

Wentworth Miller. he's in am episode called Go Fish (Near the end of season 2) he plays gade (i think) Buffy flirts with him, angel bites him, and for some strange reason he has one strange accent during the episode.

I remember near the beginning of the ep Wentworth's character saying 'Dude, what is that foulness?'

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't see how ANYONE could think the Karl in the TV series was cute. Mini-series Karl I remember looking a bit like Tom Welling, only cuter, TV series Karl was a blonde, sly-looking idiot brat with 'dipped in chip (french fry) fat' hair

reply

Mini-series Karl was really cute. I really don't think either of the Davids were cute, and tv series Karl wasn't either.

But the dumbest thing to me - unless I got it the wrong way round - was that in the tv series, they made Karl the blond and David the dark one?

I mean, what was the point of that?

reply

I personally believe that the new actors did a MUCH better job than the original actors.
Some of the actors in the original miniseries were downright Awful. Specially the Mayor, WTF.
The Mayor on the tv series was much nicer and more realistic, not a cartoon character.
Same with Marion, she was much better in the tv series. Yeah maybe the TV series was more cheaper looking but it had better actors in it and some of the outsiders were more interesting as well
