In real life, what's so far been the fastest speed you've driven in a car

Irrespective whether it was your own (current or previous) car or someone else's
(whether you were the one driving, or you were only a passenger doesn't matter),
what's so far been the fastest speed you've driven, without crashing and
harming anyone and/or also physically damaging the car. It doesn't matter if
it was on a road, or on a race track.

If it's miles, please covert it to a km figure as well and please elaborate on
what the serious or humorous circumstances of driving so fast far were.

When driving with my dad; 210km/h in a Ford Escort (1995). He tuned the engine a bit and made it more like a sports car.
I myself got up to 175km/h with a 1997 Volkswagen Polo.

Me personally? Never above 90 MPH more than likely. While in the car with another person? Around 120 MPH.

reply

Only hit 60mph as I was I a learner car and have been driven at 120mph

Empty Runway, Midnight, not enough supervision = 132 mph / 212.433 kph

Two years later they switched us to the Taurus.

All downhill from there.

110mph/177kmph?

My 98 Ford Taurus driving mid-day on the highway from Tucson to Phoenix. Noticed there was nothing but road in front of me and no other vehicles so I went up to 110 and stayed that way for a couple minutes. Good little rush to wake me up. lol

On Christmas day 1990 I hitched from Grootfontein to Windhoek in Namibia; the first car I got a lift in was a BMW and the driver took it up to 260 kpm (161 MPH)... the second person to give me a lift was driving an old VW camper... it was somewhat slower!

You guys are fast. Mine was 220 km/h which is about 136 mph on a Ford Focus.

I drive a motorcycle, and at the time I was driving a Yamaha Maxim, I think it was a 1986 model. I drove 115 mph/185kph in Pennsylvania, on a really long straight road. I was planning to go faster but the road started to curve up ahead, and the last thing I wanted was to have a blind spot up ahead at that speed. The funny part was my girlfriend was on the back of the bike, carrying a suitcase in her lap, and the resistance from the wind made it feel like she was going to blow right off the back of the bike. Thankfully I didn't lose her.

I must say, I've been in a car that was going over 100, and it felt like nothing compared to being in the open on a motorcycle doing those kinds of speeds. I regularly drove 80-90 mph around then, but getting over 100 was always hard to do in NYC.

Over a 100, my trans am speedo only went to a 100 and I was still accelerating. I am guessing 110 to 120.
