In real life, what's so far been the fastest speed you've driven in a car

Irrespective whether it was your own (current or previous) car or someone else's
(whether you were the one driving, or you were only a passenger doesn't matter),
what's so far been the fastest speed you've driven, without crashing and
harming anyone and/or also physically damaging the car. It doesn't matter if
it was on a road, or on a race track.

If it's miles, please covert it to a km figure as well and please elaborate on
what the serious or humorous circumstances of driving so fast far were.

Living in Hong Kong pretty much limits you as there are no really many long wide roads. The ones that we have a re littered with speed cameras every 1km or so. A couple of times I've driven up to 160km/h where I think that it's safe but thats it really. I think that is around 100m/h.

127mph in a 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS...on the way back from a honeymoon cruise to the Bahamas. We were playing/racing with someone driving an Acura Integra with Japanese writing on the side. As soon as I began applying the brakes, I realized that I didn't have very much control at that speed and just let it coast under 100mph before I tried the brake again. The realization that I almost lost control of the vehicle at that speed was pretty scary!

Babies don't need vacations, but I still see them at the beach!

I was only a permit holder when my dad let me drive us home from Boston in his Jetta. It was my first time on a highway... and I hit 95 mph...

The fastest speed I ever ridden in was 200km/h when we were cruising on the Italian Autostrada which didn't have a speed limit... only some fast Audis and Lambos passed us...

185 km/h in a 1992 Mercedes 190E 2.0 on a highway in Eastern Europe.

In someone else's car: Probably 100 mph (100 kph+) or more, in a late 80s Ford Crown Victoria. It was a female friend driving and they were late for something, so they really went crazy. It was a decently busy interstate, so we did a lot of weaving around passing people, and it was definitely a white knuckle experience for me. The speedometer only went up to 90 but when she started slowing down for the turnoff it took a long time for the needle to fall, so I'm guessing here.

On my own, about 90, in a 1980 Monte Carlo. Just driving back roads late and feeling bored, and also aware that the highway patrol was not likely to show up.

By the way neither of us really have a special thing for boxy old RWD monsters...its just the luck of used cars. Although I did kind of grow to like them.

i have managed to take a buddies rx-7 up to 140+ several times i think the top ever was 156mph which is .....251 kph but soon after we ended up rolling it on some ice and it was trashed, we both walked away almost scot free from a really bad crash at 142 and after that i kinda walked away from the scene

Okay First I mean if you are going to lie realistically(300mph 483kph)?

To crzycobb-- late 60s early 70s cars were made for that kind of speed. ever hear of muscle cars? Hell don't try to negoiated a tight turn in them with that all American heavy oversteer but for flat out straight line speed nearly unbeatable

ME

1971 impala 115mph 185kph odometer speed read top speed of 120 but I doubt it.

1972 plymouth fury with 383 upgrade engine 120mph 193kph

1970s era madza 4 door hatchback with 2 rotor engine the 12a I think but same as the engine in an RX7 112 mph 179kph

No big deal. Flat out on highways with gentle curves. These cars would kill you in a turn, but for flat out speed YEAH! Anyway as someone once said even grandama moses can punch the gas pedal and do 120 in a straightaway.

So the true test of speed is lap time around a street type motorway. I never have done it but would like to try.
