there are a few.

Manic-not entirely about self harm, but has a lot of that subject matter.
Thirteen-self harm is just one of many issues this girl ends up struggling with
Stay
Secretary-ends up being a really weird movie but the main chick is a cutter/burner
Saw II & III-just have self harm in them, not really focused on it
Betty Blue-havent actually seen it, so i dont really know how much is in it
Downloading Nancy-I do not recommend this one though. its sooo disgusting.
Girl, Interrupted-Pretty good flick
Prozac Nation
The Virgin Suicides
Dans ma peau
28 Days
My First Mister
Thin-more about eating disorders but has self harm in it

umm...thats all i can think of.

Thirteen instantly springs to mind. It is a quality film. Very emotional and well worth watching. I highly recommend it.

Yeah, Thirteen, The Virgin Suicides and Girl, Interrupted are the only ones I can think of. The first person to reply has lots though :)

Augusta Gone thats a good movie

The Virgin Suicides is NOT about self-harm. Cecilia was NOT a self-harmer, she was trying to committ SUICIDE, which is different. Self-harmers usually don't want to kill themselves until the point when they start thinking about it. So, no, The Virgin Suicides is NOT about self-harm. Thirteen is.

It's so cliche to put Spoiler tags on your signature

quite true.

but if we're splitting hairs, then any form of suicide is self-harm, is it not?

i get your point though.

La Pianiste - Foreign film, not about SI, but the main girl is really messed up all around, and SI is one of the things she does. I think it is sexual for her, not really sure, she had some serious sexual issues. But then in other places, I think it was not sexual, and was just the only way she could cope. Note that this is a very graphic movie, and if you have sexual issues, this might not be healthy for you. Depending on how you view the circumstances, you could say she is violently raped

The Terror Inside - Heather Locklear has multiple personality disorder. One of her personalities burns herself with cigarettes.

In My Skin - This was another foreign film. It was pretty far out there, and I didn't really connect with the girl, she was way beyond what I ever did, and the movie got pretty graphic at times. But still, it is about SI... in a way. I don't really think that whoever wrote it had SI, and I don't think it was really about SI like Secret Cutting was, this was more like a girl going insane, and cutting strips of flesh off and eating them was just one of the ways she did that.

From the previous poster's list
------
Stay - I don't remember much about this, except it was really annoying. I don't remember any SI (I watched it a long long time ago, though), but I do remember a suicide. And I remember being dissatisfied with the explanation of the movie. It was one of those movies that didn't make much sense, but you were supposed to go "whoah" when you got it, but I remember going "meh" when I got it ;)

Girl, Interrupted - This was a great movie, wonderful acting all around, amazing characters, I own this one, and always have such a difficult time deciding which character is my favourite.

Prozac Nation - I have a crappy copy of it, from Japan or something. I think I couldn't make it through, because I barely remember anything about it. (I say I couldn't make it through, b/c of the quality of the recording, not because it was too graphic or anything.)

The Virgin Suicides - Trash movie, skip it. Nothing makes any sense, just a bunch of girls who kill themselves. Nothing they did made any sense, there was no cohesion. Every time they did anything, I would just think "now why did she do that?" characters who did stupid things because they were written to be "slutty" or "suicidal" or whatever. And as a previous poster pointed out, suicide isn't really SI.

28 Days - I actually liked this quite a bit, Sandra Bullock did a good job, and there were a number of times I felt like I connected with the movie. I don't remember SI in it, maybe I should watch it again, I remember it being about alcohol addiction, and making the choice for sobriety.

@angel-white: gwen's roommate in 28 days was the self harmer (also a heroin addict). it's easy to miss. there are only one or two scenes involving it.

very delayed response on my part lol

The list posted earlier is good. I would recommend 28 Days, Manic, Thirteen, and Thin (the book has more on cutting than the movie).

Also:

Archie's Final Project
Home Room -- more suicide than self-injury
Another Happy Day
Confessions of an American Girl -- also more suicide
Wristcutters: A Love Story -- also more focused on suicide and comedy

One can also consider eating disorders as self harm. Movies on this: Starving in Suburbia; For the Love of Nancy: Kate's Secret: Dying To Dance; Hunger Point and Moment of Truth: a Secret Between Friends. these films were all on LMN
