He should have had this at least a decade ago. The guy now is one of the worst news readers that I have ever heard. On top of that, his voice is grating and unfulfilling. There are thousands of local better qualified anchors that can read news pieces around this country. The obvious choice is Matt Lauer. It makes me wonder why he hasn't been up for this job.

If not Matt, who would you suggest for Nightly News?

Matt is not Nightly News material, he filled in for Brian one time and got negative reviews for how he anchored Nightly News.

Matt would do great for Meet The Press if he leaves Today or end his contract he should look at MTP.

Neither is Brian, but it did not stop this guy from being on there for the past couple of years.

I do not much care for Matt Lauer one way or another, but it is sad to see him wasted on Today. He pretty much holds that show together. The last time I watched Today it was horrifying. He was surrounded by air heads. They even ran out of time on a couple of segments in one day despite having added an hour in length per day. It was just shear incompetence, mismanagement and chaos on set. I figure that due to the format the show only runs for two hours with the additional two hours being the identical segments with updated news pieces. It is not like anyone watches all 4 hours.

I do agree that Matt would probably be best suited for MTP. Brian Williams is probably just not suitable for television at all, but I could imagine a place for him on Today with the rest of the low end "personalities."

In my opinion the intelligence level of the Today show went downhill once they got rid of Meredith and Ann from the show. Matt Lauer is no different from the airheads he was groomed very well from Bryant Gumbel.

People still watch Brian Williams, in my opinion he got to inflate with his ego. Brian does not have real newsman edge. Lester Holt is a better newscaster and newsman, his delivery is poignant and he brings so much realism to the stories he presents then Brian and should've got Nightly News a long time ago.
