Relationship Between Virginia and Megan *** Spoilers ***

Megans feelings towards Virginia seem to change a lot throughout the series. In series 1 she sees her as a friend then dislikes her after Virginia lets on she knows about Megan having sex with the window cleaner, in series 2 she is using her for money, in the 3rd series she seems to genuinely like her but by the 4th she is back to using her for her money. You could say this is inconsistent but I feel it can be explained.

I think that although her interest in Virginia was primarily motivated by greed in series 2 she found that she enjoyed having sex with her and quite liked her and thats why she started sleeping with her again in series 3 when there was no money to be gained. However when the family got their money back she must have seen an opportunity and so she went back to her gold digging which explains her actions in series 4. I doubt she would have wanted Virginia as a girlfriend without the money and it probably would have been a fling that petered out. Does that makes sense?

I agree. Another reason Megan might have 'got back' with Virginia in series 3, when there was no money to gain, is because she was very lonely. Living by herself with possibility of losing custody of her children. Virginia was a sort of friend, somebody to talk to...

I always think the music played when Virginia first sets eyes on Megan (series 1, episode 1) is very haunting when you think what happens to Megan, 3 years later in the bath...!

Good point, loneliness played a part as well.

I'll have to watch the first episode and pay close attention to that scene.

I agree, I think Megan was lonely and she did genuinely like Virginia. I didn't like Megan at first but she sort of grew on me towards the end. She was one of those 'love to hate characters'. I felt sorry for Virginia after Megan died, as much as Megan was annoying, she didn't deserve to die, especially not in such a tragic way.
