Abandoned at Connie Stevens's house?

Did I misunderstand it, or did his mother actually drop him off at Connie Stevens's house and then abandon him? If she really did that, he is a truly decent and forgiving person for later reconciling with her and fulfilling her last wish.

That's the story I've always heard.

Apparently you never heard....this is a FABRICATION on the part of George
Hickenlooper, voiced by Kim Fowley....I am IN the movie, I ought to know...

These fabrications (or "Hollywood-ized") things happen, unfortunately, too
often...Luckily, this was about the only distortion in an otherwise truthful
film...However, the director concentrated too much on sadness and weirdness;
this film screams to be re-cut.

When Rodney gets his "Star" on the Walk of Fame, I'd love it if a financier
bought up the rights to the film, and gave him unprecedented carte blanche
to make an ARTIST'S cut of this underproduced masterpiece...

If you listen to the commentary during that scene, Rodney is asked where his mother went and he admits that she simply went shopping.

But that Connie Stevens wasn't even home. She was shooting on location someplace.

Pretty sad if it's true.

These aren’t my thoughts, they’re my cat walking on the keyboard.
