America's first serial killer??

A commentator says this. That must be wrong.

Ed Gein was not a serial killer, he was not a mass murderer & he was not a spree killer.

You have to kill 3 people or more to be classified as one of those types of killers. Ed Gein "only" murdered 2 women.

Ed Gein wasn't a serial killer, just a one or two time killer.
America's first documented serial killer was Carl Panzram, there's also a movie about him starring James Woods, I suggest you see it, good movie.

you got that? now reverse it

Carl Panzram?
Wrong.
Try H.H. Holmes a.k.a. Herman Mudgett.

I thought America's first serial killer was the British..

They killed the Indians you know?

I guess we have to differentiate between America and the USA.

Some of the earliest serial killer in the USA have got to be Billy the Kid and Jesse James although they might be considered Spree Killers.

As did the French, Spannish and guess who? Good old Uncle Sam. Read up on the Sand Creek Massacre, the entire Indian Wars, the American Rebels in the war of Independence before you make such silly remarks.

History is not as clean cut as some would like it.

And personally I would think the American Continent had it's fair share of serial killers before Columbus (who also could be classed as a serial killer...he killed and the 'indians' also) and other Europeans arrived to plunder the place.

He only admitted to two but there is other factors that lead many to believe he may have two to four other deaths added to that tally.

Ed probably killed much more that 2 women. Lots of female human remains were found on his property that couldn't be explained by just his grave robbing. Plus he probably killed his brother Henry. Ed was a serial killer and a very sick man. I am a strong proponent of the death penalty at least in certain cases. Gacy and Bundy certainly deserved what the got. However, I think Ed was so completely insane he didn't realize the seriousness of his actions. So if anyone deserved to be permanently incarcerated in a mental institution it was him. A human mind can't get too much more twisted than his.

Ed Gein was not America's first serial killer, if a serial killer at all. Albert Fish, a totally despicable human being was probably one of the first reported serial killers, doing his damage in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He was also a pedophile and a cannibal and into self mutilation. He was and may still be the oldest person ever put to death in this country.
