Was anyone paying attention to any of the other people in the movie besides Bartleby? Crispin was really the only one worth looking at.<drool>

Man, I thought I had problems. Actually I'm with you, I confess I only saw this because of Crispin Glover. Still a good movie regardless, but who else could've pulled it off so perfectly?

Crispin Glover is an amazing actor, one of a kind, and he always steals every scene he's in. (This is especially true of his role as the Creepy Thin Man in "Charlie's Angels".) There is no doubt he was perfect for the role, and absolutely mesmerizing in his performance.

I did notice the other performances, however. I think this movie has a great supporting cast (I didn't even mind Joe Piscopo much, an "actor" I generally don't like). Glenn Headley was a joy to watch, even more a joy to listen to in the way she talked.

David Paymer absolutely needs to get a lot of credit here though. I think he's a great actor who doesn't really get the exposure he deserves. He's always good playing a supporting role or being part of an ensemble, as in "State and Main". But here he gets the opportunity to be at the center of a story with Glover, another underexposed actor.

Paymer and Glover are absolutely amazing, and play off of each other so well. I would love to see both of them in more stuff. I'm still waiting to see "Willard."

Glover was great. Gary Busey would be total jazz as Bartleby.

Both Piscopo and Glenne Headly were fantastic too. The whole cast really. Paymer. Chaykin. And Deborah Parker's art direction. Sublime. It too, a character all its own.

I have most of Crispin Glover's movies. I'am ahuge fan of him.

I really enjoyed the entire cast. I thought Maury Chaykin, who has been good in so many things, was absolutely perfect here as the befuddled Vietnam vet.

Crispin was Crispin, which is never a bad thing. Paymer is still always worth a watch...I've loved him since Crazy People.

reply

Yup..Crispin was indeed outstanding in Bartleby..he was perfect for the role. Like it's been mentioned before, I did notice Maury Chaykin's performance and of course David Paymer is always great too. Glenne Headly also did a good job, though I'd never seen her in anything before this film.

"Bartleby" had an excellent cast. I loved everything about this film... the eerie theramin music, the over the top production design, the dead pan acting....
In my opinion Melvilles comment on society and how we are forced to conform comes across in a very real way without insulting the viewer. I loved it!

Are you kidding? Glenn Headly was the best!

I prefer.. not to say. Ok, fine, yes, I was looking at Crispin the whole time.

A fan of both Crispin Glover and Mr. Renfield? ... This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship, silhouette.

In response to the question - I must say, I *was* staring at Crispin the entire time. He has such beautiful eyes.

Oddly enough, back when I first read this, the only person I thought of to play Bartleby was Cripsin Glover. I still think he would make an excellent Bartleby if they'd make this set in it's original context.

Glenne Headly gave me a boner watching this movie.

Glenne Headly's nipples looked irresistibly delicious to me.
