Is it wrong for me to say that I genuinely enjoyed it?

I can see where some of the criticism was made, but I don't think it was meant to be taken that seriously. I for one liked the design of the characters and the action scenes were pretty nifty.

That said, how is it that they introduce Moliere as a snooty professor then turn him into a Donald Duck prototype?

"HOPSCOTCH!"

reply

Of course not. I've always liked this film and I don't care about the critics. While ATLANTIS is far from perfect, it is a entertaining and enjoyable film and definitively very underrated.

reply

What's this "far from perfect" stuff? The characters are awesome, the dialogue is snappy, witty and fun.
Oh, and Michael J. Fox.

How about this quote: Commander. Commander. . . commander. . . commander. . . commander.

That's great writing! And I'm not being sarcastic, you don't get stuff like that in most movies.

The animation is, of course, excellent and the effects are fantastic to look at. (especially in high definition)

I don't know what OTHER people consider the golden age of Disney, but I consider the golden age of Disney to be when these movies were made:

Tarzan
Mulan
Treasure Planet
Lilo and Stitch
Atlantis: The Lost Empire
Hercules

These have emotion, great dialogue and animation, and characters you love.

I just watched it today and I loved it! The art style was really refreshing and all the characters were fun to watch. I was quite surprised at the death toll in this movie, especially since it is disney. I was cracking up quite a bit and really liked the main character, although I thought I wouldn't because I do not usually enjoy those "geeky" types.

This!! The look of the film was inspired by comic book artist/writer Mike Mignola, who is probably best known for creating the Hellboy comics. Imagine Mike Mignola being the inspiration for ANYTHING Disney. I've always thought that was cool. If nothing else, 'Atlantis' was clearly an ambitious project and was unlike anything Disney had ever done before. All reasons that make it a worthwhile film.

Oh, and Michael J. Fox. Like the other guy said.

reply

yes, its forbidden to say that you enjoyed this.

just kidding :) you're allowed to enjoy this.

Plot beginning was a little choppy. Otherwise I found it entertaining and not deserving of the hate it generated. It also touches on a number of introductory ethics issues for young people.

reply

Nope, nothing wrong with that. I for one love this movie, because the characters are reasonably well developed and the animation is PHENOMENAL! It may have stolen a few story ideas from Caste in the Sky, but it's still a lot of fun to watch.

Let the storm rage on, the cold never bothered me anyway...
