Hi Folks!

I was amused with this movie when it first came out and thought it a nice story with original ideas! i've recently obtained Laputa: Castle in the Sky the studio Ghibli film (I recomed watching it)and i giggled as to all the similarities! the giant guardians! the powerfull crystals! a long lost city with advanced technology! :)thought it deserved a mention here since no one else pointed it out but some how conected James Camerons Avatar to this first! :D

Yep. Also studio Gainax made an anime called Nadia, Secret of the Blue water I think, Atlantis is basically a combination of of castle in the sky and Nadia

OMG i saw Laputa: CITS in high school in the late 90's on a fansub tape on one of my last years in high school and loved it, i noticed that when i saw Atlantis in theaters and thought "Geez this is preciously like Laputa and they got ideas".

Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind... you would get a kick out of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind too then!

I thought Atlantis was very much derived from both Castle in the Sky and Princess Mononoke, even annoying that the directors don't make any acknowledgment in their audio commentary.
