According to the Complete Directory to Prime Time Network TV Shows, it premiered on February 9, 1973...this may have been an oversight when the authors wrote the first edition, and didn't correct it for future editions. Either way, The Midnight Special was a groundbreaking series--would be great if some station (like TV Land) aired uncut reruns (I think VH1 had them, but edited), and there was a new version (no hip-hop please).
...I just found out from Wikipedia, it premiered as a special on August 19, 1972, then a regular series six months later. Thanks anyway for any help and let's keep this series going!
