Beach Boys

Were the Beach Boys ever on Midnight special? During the commercials they show a one second shot of Carl Wilson and Mike Love but not exactly sure.

reply

Yes, but that one second clip was either Mike Love and Ed Carter, or Mike Love and Al Jardine. Keep in mind this is the time when all the Beach Boys had beards, so I can understand the confusion. Still I couldn't figure out what song they were playing either.

They were on around 1978 or so. This was during the "Brian's Back" period, and he's on stage at the keyboards, looking as confused as ever. They do "California Girls" and "Good Vibrations" if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks, Billymac...I saw a recent commercial for the DVD set, and it showed a longer clip of the Beach Boys doing Good Vibrations. Yes, during that time Brian Wilson does look confused; they had him out there to try to get him involved with the group on stage. Thankfully, Brian is doing great now. I saw him in concert back in 2001 and he did a fantastic job with his group, the Wondermints. He was touring with the Pet Sounds tour.

The Beach Boys appeared as a group on The Midnight Special (Episode #280) on 4/27/79. They performed "Good Vibrations," "Here Comes the Night," "Surfin' U.S.A.," "Angel Come Home" and "Lady Lynda".
