My Midnight Special experience

So I saw the advertisements on tv at like 2am....and thought that man this looks amazing and I had to order it, I love all the paid advertisements for all the music collections and this looked like the best out there, so I ordered it on Nov 6 it got shipped out on the 9th and I didn't get it till Dec 15 which was kind of a long wait but since I live in "Canada" it would take longer so they said, so I finaly got it and it every thing seems to be all here nothing damaged and nothing missing I was looking at the dvds and noticed some of the performances were missing like in the commericals it shows Cheaptrick but they are not to be found and as well black oak arkansa, Santana and George Therogood that I noticed but other then that theres still all the great bands on here and its really rocking.

my favorite performances so far are
Edgar Winter - Frankenstein
Wild Cherry - Play that Funky Music
T Rex- Bangagong
James Brown - Payback
Sly and the family Stone - Thank you
AC/DC - Sin City
Blondie - Heart of Glass

Heres a list of acts that I would of liked to see on the show
Led Zeppelin
Grand Funk Railroad
The Who
Chicago
Van Halen
Black Sabbath
Rolling Stones
Queen
Allman Brothers
Boston
Bruce Springsteen
Simon & Garfunkel
CCR
The Eagles
Stevie Wonder

any ways it was worth buying and its great to bring it over to friends house's
its great conversation starters at least one person in the room will love one song

any way cheers

Cheap Trick, Stevie Wonder, Chicago, The Eagles, Black Oak Arkansas, Santana & George Thorogood should all be appearing on future discs as they were all on the show.

I too have found some of these performances great. It's especially nice to have vintage footage of groups like Steely Dan and Peter Frampton (with voice box, natually) on DVD, as I'm not aware of any other old clips of them ever being available. I know that in the case of Steely Dan, it's especially rare since they were only briefly a touring band at the very onset of their career. In fact, this tv appearance is amongst only a handful of known footage of them. Beyond that, one has to go all the way to 1994 for a "reunion" tour, which wasn't realeased on video either. Equally rare are some of the more obscure, one-hit wonder bands that, for the most part, reproduce their songs perfectly: Sanford Townshend Band ("Smoke from a Distant Fire"); Redbone ("Come & Get Your Love"); Argent ("Hold Your Head Up"), etc.

If you liked the "Frankenstein" clip, be sure to pick up the first volume of "The Old Grey Whistle Test". It contains a much, much better vintage performance of the song with Rick Derringer on guitar (he's not in the Midnight Special clip). Also, there is a better redition of Sly's "Thank You" available on "Rock Icons: The Dick Cavett Show."

The first clip I watched when I bought the set was AC/DC. They had that Midnight Special logo on screen throughout the song and I thought "oh no". Luckily that was the only one that had it.
