A little silly but fun

Somewhat laughable. I remember the hype & the constant promos on tv for this.

My biggest problem was that they didn't even try to get an actor who looked even a *little* like Macca. Aidan Quinn??

I opine that the movie was really corny and clichéd, but if it's true that nothing was known about what really went on, the writers can be excused for that. Both actors, once you got used to them, if you didn't look too close, were uncanny in their resemblances, especially John at certain angles. The main beef I had was that John was characterized as a total jerk, and though he had that side to him, he was a very happy guy when he became a family man, and always did have a sunny, friendly air about him if you caught him at the right time. Watch just about any interview he ever did and you'll see the difference. He loved living, walking, meeting people in New York, and was not the recluse he was depicted to be.

Ah! A reply to this after 2 years! lol!

I agree that they sort of dropped the ball with John. & I've definitely seen his sunnier side as well.
But I still wouldn't describe Quinn's resemblance to McCartney as uncanny. He doesn't resemble him at all. Wrong nose, wrong eyes...& the eyes are important if you're portraying Paul.
They *Should've* gotten Gary Bakewell to play Paul. Guy playing John did resemble him very much.

I guess with Paul I was referring more to his mannerisms, movements, etc. than his face. He was even less Paul-like a couple times when he assumed that deep, bass speaking voice, which I doubt Paul is capable of. The John guy did better in the sound-alike department, too.
